Despite his defeat in Godzilla Minus One, the kaiju’s historic, award-winning success ensures his return. Three years later, writer-director Takashi Yamazaki is set to expand the franchise with a larger-scale sequel.
Following its exclusive premiere for attendees at CinemaCon in Las Vegas, Toho and GKids have officially unveiled the teaser trailer for Godzilla Minus Zero, the direct sequel to the 2023 critically acclaimed hit. Picking up in 1949—just two years after the conclusion of Minus One—the film sees Ryunosuke Kamiki and Minami Hamabe return as Koichi Shikishima and Noriko Oishi. The story follows the pair as they continue to grapple with the lasting psychological scars and trauma stemming from their narrow escapes during Godzilla’s initial assault on Tokyo.
Godzilla Minus Zero hits theaters in Japan on November 3, the same date the original Godzilla released in 1954, and will open in the U.S. shortly thereafter on November 6.
