Nearly three years—and more than a billion box‑office dollars—after his last adventure, Mario is returning to theaters. Nintendo has unveiled the first trailer for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, transporting everyone’s favorite plumber and his crew into an entirely new realm.
That universe became possible thanks to the massive success of 2023’s The Super Mario Bros. Movie, which pulled in nearly $1.5 billion worldwide and all but guaranteed Nintendo’s continued return to theaters. We got a tiny tease back in September, but now we finally have a full look at the sequel’s direction—and this time, the adventure is heading straight into the cosmos.
Chris Pratt returns as the voice of Mario, along with Anya Taylor-Joy as Princess Peach, Charlie Day as Luigi, Jack Black as Bowser, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, and Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek. Michael Jelenic and Aaron Horvath, who directed the first film, return to direct. Brie Larson and Benny Safdie will also be joining the film as Princess Rosalina, a major character from the Galaxy games, and Bowser Jr., the film’s new main villain, respectively.
The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is coming to theaters on April 3, 2026.
